Tea by the Tree

The lights glisten slowly in the calm of the night, reflecting off ornaments hung with care. Blue green promises of presents to come mix gently with red yellow thoughts of Christmas rum. Eggnog, hot chocolate, and tea are enjoyed by the crackling fire as Christmas music fills the air with spirit. Outside the snow is falling to the beat of scattering salt and the pang of shovels on icy concrete as paths are cleared for family and friends. Snow balls fly through the air occasionally striking their targets as brothers and sisters proclaim short-lived victories over each other. The eve is fast approaching and with it, the realization of countless dreams around the world. And while last minute-shopping and party planning are sure to fill the heads of everyone, fill your hearts instead with peace and calm. For this is a this time to dream, a time to give, and a time to sip a little tea by the tree… Relax.

Here is a different angle of the first shot I took. It offers a more sweeping perspective of the art gallery. I also kept the color in this one for a different feel. I particularly like the rectangular piece of the ceiling that is separated from the rest… not sure what that is, but it looks nice.

The world fades slowly to black
As pages of thought are writ to memory
In silence.
Nothing exists.
One breath, one purpose, one will.
Exacted with focus, inhaled with precision.
One book, one pen, one page at a time.
Turned with flickering movements of color in mind.
Reality.
An ephemeral memory of responsibility and obligation
Soon lost and forgotten in thought.
Dinner for Two
0This is a wedding engagement gift I came up with this morning. The photo was taken back in August when I was in Aruba. As it turns out the table setting itself was in fact for a bride and groom. I can’t think of a more beautiful place for a wedding. The borders are purposely made large so that the photo may fit a wide variety of standard frame sizes.
Rounded Relaxation
0This shot was taken on the North End Harborwalk in Boston (where else?). I almost walked right by this area before an open gate caught my eye and led me here. I’m not sure who the property belongs to, but I am sure I photographed it from many angles and liked this one the best.
Rooftop Escape
1There are some people who search everywhere for paradise. They pay thousands of dollars to fly all over the world in hopes that one day they will find their calling, far away from the realities that await them at home. But reality is what you make of it, not what it makes of you. Undoubtedly, “reality” will always follow these escapists as they run from one misconception to the other.
I have to admit that I often dream of being one of them. Dream, for example, of dropping everything and traveling the world in search of the freedom I so long to have – freedom from my job, my cube, my bills, my responsibilities, my… life. But ultimately, my own advice follows me wherever I go – look up, look around, and look within. Is this advice simply a cover for my fear of the unknown? Perhaps, but why travel so far when I can find a small piece of paradise on my rooftop escape.
