Rounded Relaxation

This shot was taken on the North End Harborwalk in Boston (where else?). I almost walked right by this area before an open gate caught my eye and led me here. I’m not sure who the property belongs to, but I am sure I photographed it from many angles and liked this one the best. :-)

Rooftop Escape

There are some people who search everywhere for paradise. They pay thousands of dollars to fly all over the world in hopes that one day they will find their calling, far away from the realities that await them at home. But reality is what you make of it, not what it makes of you. Undoubtedly, “reality” will always follow these escapists as they run from one misconception to the other.

I have to admit that I often dream of being one of them. Dream, for example, of dropping everything and traveling the world in search of the freedom I so long to have – freedom from my job, my cube, my bills, my responsibilities, my… life. But ultimately, my own advice follows me wherever I go – look up, look around, and look within. Is this advice simply a cover for my fear of the unknown? Perhaps, but why travel so far when I can find a small piece of paradise on my rooftop escape.

Unfinished Verse

Since it has been raining for the past few days, I’ve been getting much more into these indoor creative shots. The overall theme seems to be one of sadness lost in wine. I’m not sad or anything either, these are just the ideas that come to me… strange. There’s a lot going on in this one, but hopefully if you look closely and read my little “shutterscript” below you’ll get the idea.

Unfinished Verse

Tonight I sit to write these lines of love and beauty
To write of the ways I will hold you
And you me, locked in warm embrace
Our hearts combined into molten flesh
Beating as one

Tonight I sit to write these lines of love and beauty
But what beauty is there without your face?
What love without your touch?
What lines without your grace?

Tonight I sit to… mourn
These lines of love and beauty
For they will never be written
Their power never felt
Their subject never held

I was too late, my love
So tonight I will sit
And dream of a time
When I can once again
Write these lines of love and beauty
